Ravavik is a small kitten but-like all Vikings-he is very brave.

He fights everything, especially sleep. He seems to know that sleep is very important, and that he needs it to have the strength for all his adventures, but he definitely doesn't like sleeping.

His parents, Emma and Erland the Great, go to no end of trouble to describe the good points of sleep to their son and explain to him why he needs it so much.

Despite all their efforts, the same story is repeated every day. The kitten is sleepy; he has trouble keeping his eyes open; his paws would like to lead him to bed, but he does everything to avoid falling asleep.

He starts listening to loud music, runs wildly around the house, and goes bananas. He's afraid that if he sits down, he will fall asleep. And he doesn't want to go to sleep! But in the end, there comes a time when he's no longer able to run, and then, finally, he falls asleep.

One day, Ravavik was fighting sleep even more than usual. He decided that he wouldn't go to sleep at all. He thought this was a genius plan and chose to tell his parents about it right away.

"Mom, Dad! I am a brave Viking, and I don't need sleep!" cried Ravavik merrily, and he turned green out of joy. "Buddy, everyone needs sleep, even the most fearless Viking in the world," said Dad. "Nah, I don't. Today, I won't sleep at all!" "Wait, how can you not sleep at all?" asked Mom in horror. "I simply won't sleep all night," answered the kitten confidently. "But Ravavik, you have to go to sleep, otherwise tomorrow you won't have the strength for anything," said Dad. "Why do we need all that sleep? Sleeping is so boring. I can do so many extra cool things if I don't go to sleep." "Darling, if you don't go to sleep, you won't do any extra cool things because you will be exhausted," said Mom.

The little Viking didn't understand what his parents were talking about. He decided that he would put his great plan into practice and started making a list of things to do in the evening and during the whole night. Suddenly, he felt very sleepy, so he thought he would go to play outside.
